What is Google Panda and Penguin Algorithm Update?

If you're a webmaster or newbie in the SEO world, then you probably heard or read about these two known animal algorithm update created by google. These are Google Panda and Penguin Update

You may find them cute but these two was made by Google to be a big shake up in the SEO community who try to manipulate rankings using shady black hat tactics. Penguin and Panda are two  algorithm update created by Google to make the user search result much better. It's very important to learn more about these two so that you know how you can avoid them. Otherwise, You're just wasting your time trying to rank your site if you ever got hit by these algorithms.

Google Panda Update

It was first rolled out on February 2011, Panda was launched by Google for the purpose of lowering the rank of low quality site with low quality content (thin content) and improving the rank of high quality site who deserves it.

Panda is more focused on site content itself basically focusing on penalizing website who has on page problem like doing over optimization, link farm, keyword stuffing, thin content, putting too many ads, duplicate content, errors, site speed, bounce rate and any other factors that may clasify a site as low quality.




Google Penguin Update

Penguin is another big Google algorithm update that has created a big buzz in SEO space. It was first announced on April 24, 2014. Its mainly focus on penalizing and decreasing the search ranking of a website that violates Google's Webmaster Guidlines. It's aimed to stop black hat SEO techniques that manipulates site ranking and using methods such as paying and building massive number of links escpecially one that uses exact match anchortext to improved their keyword ranking.

If you don't want your site to get hit by penguin, make sure you start to clean your backlink profile and try your best to get natural links instead and start to follow Google webmaster guidelines.
